Comparing Multi-Criteria Decision Methods To Select Serverless Providers

This work proposes a unified framework to systematically evaluate, score, and classify serverless computing providers using three distinct Multi-Criteria Decision Methods (MCDM): the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), and Preference Ranking Organization METHod for Enrichment of Evaluation (PROMETHEE). The framework will be applied to a set of evaluation criteria derived from industry benchmarks and the official documentation of serverless providers. By implementing and comparing the results of these three methods under various simulated customer needs scenarios (i.e., different criteria weighting schemes), this study will analyze the convergence and divergence of their results. In this way, the respective strengths, weaknesses, and suitability of each method for this specific technology selection problem will be evaluated, providing a more comprehensive guide for decision-making in this rapidly evolving technological domain.
