A Quantitative Assessment of Iot Impacts On The Supply Chain

Purpose – Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the new technologies included in Industry 4.0 transformation. The purpose of this paper is to assess IoT impacts on Supply Chain. Design/Methodology - Partial Least Square - Structural Equation Modeling was selected to determine the weights of a complex framework that explains the im-pact of IoT on the Supply Chain. Supply Chain Performance but also SCOR were included on the framework as dependent variables. The study comprised questionnaire design, a sample of approximately 200 Supply Chain senior executives, the data collection process and data treatment. Findings – Based on the literature, Supply Chain Capabilities was included as a mediator once the direct IoT to Supply Chain Performance and SCOR impact wasn’t supported. As a matter of fact, IoT indirectly impacts Supply Chain Performance and even more substantially SCOR elements. Originality/Value - Very few studies discuss the real impact of IoT on Supply Chains. This is one of the very few studies approaching IoT impact on the Sup-ply Chain in a systematic and structured quantitative way.
