Analysis of Indoor Radio Coverage For Wifi Networks Using Htz Communications

The paper investigates the radio coverage of WiFi networks in the 2.4/5 GHz ISM bands for indoor scenarios, using the HTZ Communications platform for simulation and floor maps as cartographic support. Scenarios with different access point (AP) locations are developed, semiempirical propagation models are applied, and the spatial distributions of the signal level are estimated. For validation, a measurement campaign is carried out using commercial mobile terminals, using Android applications capable of logging location and received signal strength indicator (RSSI). The estimated results are compared with the ones obtained by means of measurements, evaluating the relative performance of the models in the analyzed bands. The conclusions summarize the differences between 2.4 and 5 GHz in indoor environments and provide practical design recommendations.
