Crescer: An App To Promote Positive Parenting Strategies For Emotion Regulation, Managing Challenging Behavior, and Supporting Academic Preparation
Parenting can be a complex and challenging experience, especially during the period when children are between 3 and 8 years old, a stage marked by significant changes in their development and behavior. In this context, parents often face difficulties that may lead to inadequate disciplinary practices. Positive parenting has shown clear benefits for children’s well-being and development; however, existing support programs are often extensive, costly, and not easily accessible. Technology emerges as an opportunity to bring parents closer to practical, personalized, and accessible information. This paper describes the design, development, and evaluation of CRESCER, a mobile application designed to support parents by providing content on positive parenting strategies, educational activities, and complementary support re-sources. The solution was developed using user-centered methods, including questionnaires and interviews with parents. The application was implemented with modern technologies (React Native, Supabase, and Contentful), ensuring scalability, security, and flexibility. The results of usability testing with a sample of 10 parents showed good acceptance, usefulness, and ease of use. These findings evidence the potential of the application as a complement or alternative to traditional parental support programs, bringing positive parenting strategies closer to the families’ needs.
