Color and Audiovisual Language: The Case of Harry Styles
This research analyzes the relationship between color and elements of audiovisual language in Harry Styles' music videos "Adore You," "Music for a Sushi Restaurant," and "As It Was." It is based on the premise that color is not merely an aesthetic resource but also a narrative element capable of conveying emotions, symbolism, and meaning. Through a bibliographic review, it addresses topics related to color in music videos, audiovisual language, and the music video, the latter of which is, in turn, linked to the pop genre. It also addresses color theory applied to the audiovisual field, considering its psychology and symbolism. Thus, through qualitative methodology, content analysis and interview techniques, the relationship between the use of color and elements of audiovisual language is examined. The results show that color in Styles' music videos reinforces the narrative and enhances the construction of emotions in the audience that consumes the pop genre. In conclusion, the research contributes to the understanding of the current music video as a product in which color plays a fundamental role in generating new meanings.
