A Reference Model To Support The Development of Micro Frontend Applications Based On Server-Driven User Interface

Server-Driven User Interface (SDUI) is an architectural pattern in which the server defines and controls the user interface, allowing it to be updated dynamically without requiring the distribution of new versions of the application. Micro frontend is an architectural style that facilitates the decomposition of a mobile or web application's user interface into smaller, independently developed and deployed units. This architecture was designed to enhance the agility, scalability, and maintainability of such applications. In parallel, reference models (RM) facilitate the reuse of artifacts that aggregate the knowledge of software architectures and design patterns in specific software domains. Based on these issues, the main contribution of this paper is the presentation of RM4SDUI-MFApps, an RM designed to facilitate the development of SDUI Micro Frontend Applications (SDUI-MFApps). To show the applicability of the proposed model, a case study was conducted, which yielded valuable insights that could contribute to the SDUI-MFApps domain.
